FIRST CONTACT

We just listened to the test pressing of our upcoming vinyl Watch Them Run - and we're gobsmacked! To celebrate we decided to share another song from the album - First Contact.


This track was created during the second term of the Swedish right wing/liberal alliance. Why is that important? A lot of things have changed to the worse - or is it just us? Why do we hate ourselves, our bodies, our work? Why is it so hard to widen the horizon and look beyond the context of our own little struggles?

First Contact is the sound of dependece, it's a meeting between an oppressor and the oppressed. The outcome is certain.

In this decomposition, a dialogue is born. Are we scared of ourselves?





This is the second track of the upcoming album Watch Them Run, which is to be released in July.

ASLEEP AT THE WHEEL

Asleep at the wheel is one of the oldest Death Masses songs. Originally it was intended to be part of The Bridal Shop oeuvre. However, it’s like a phoenix, rising from the death of one band and giving birth to another.

The title is of course metaphorical. It’s fucking crazy being asleep at the wheel when the world is falling to pieces. But there is also some complexity to it in relation to the lyrics. Why can’t the sleepers seem to wake themselves up when sleeping is foolish? Is it our fate riding the car – we’re always asleep? Well, we’re tired of sleeping, but we can’t find the power to wake up in the things that be. We need something else. Before we crash.

Asleep at the wheel is one of eight songs on the new Death Masses album that will be released later this spring.

Livepremiär på Högkvarteret Närkesgatan 8 Stockholm. Temat för fredagens spelning lyder myteri på finlandsfärjan. Eftersom 2/3 av bandet till 50% består av finskt material lovar vi en speciell hyllning till vår således finska tredjedel. Vi kan också utlova att det varken blir ballonger, muffins, kondomer eller något annat själlöst jippo i samband med framträdandet. Bara tre bittra åttiotalister - och fyra maskiner.
